To combat global terrorism and address the threat it possesses to global peace and prosperity, Nigeria has passed into Law a Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 which makes it a criminal offence for any person to commit, threaten, promote, assist, facilitate, fund, train or withhold information about any act preparatory to, in furtherance of or in actual execution of acts of terrorism against individuals or governments.

The success of this legislation is subject to the efficiency of the law enforcement machinery in Nigeria.
